Chalk Day held at the Civic Center Saturday, October 23, 2021 with a Focus on Children’s Health

The GFWC Seward Woman’s Club co-sponsored “Chalk Day” at the Civic Center on Saturday, October 23rd, and invited students and children of all ages to join in creating sidewalk art with a purpose and a message.  The event was co-sponsored by the Greater Seward Area CASA program.  GFWC Seward Woman’s Club President Joanna Treas, served as the chair of the event.  She was assisted by Abigail VanEngelenhoven, Seward High Senior-student volunteer.

The event asked each student to take a section of the sidewalk and create a message on the topic of Children’s Health-Keeping Children Healthy.

The event was free and open to all ages, parents and guardians were welcome to join in and side walk chalk was furnished, donated by the GFWC Seward Woman’s Club.

Following the completion of the chalk drawings, the children shared exactly their message and what the art represented-as it applied to improving the health of the child, both physical health and/or mental health.  The program also tied in with the GFWC Seward Woman’s Club’s “Make a Difference Day” campaign-hoping to make a difference with children and promoting children’s health.

Treats and fun prizes were donated by the members of the GFWC Seward Woman’s Club for the event.
